Why do I need a support plan?

Maintaining a WordPress website is essential for ensuring its optimal performance, security, and functionality.

Will this protect my website from being hacked?

While no one can guarantee that a website is 100% secure and impossible to hack, a support plan will help to reduce the risk by keeping software up to date and proactively monitoring your website security.

What is a “content edit”?

A content edit is a change to the content on an existing web page. For instance, replacing an image or updating a block of text are both content edits.

Building new pages and features are not considered content edits.

What if I need new pages built or new features added?

New pages, features, and development efforts will be estimated and billed separately.

Premium and Enterprise clients receive discounts on all projects.

Enterprise clients can bundle larger discounted development hours with their support plan for simplified billing.

Does this include website hosting?

No. 84EM does not offer website hosting. However, we are happy to work with your current host, or if you’re looking to make a switch, we can advise you on a good host to switch to.

Do you provide support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?

We do not offer 24-hour, around the clock support.

84EM’s business hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, US/Central time, Monday through Friday.

If your website goes down after hours, we’ll work to restore it as quickly as we can the next business day*.

For our Premium clients, we offer limited after-hours emergency support (typically 7:00 am – 9:00 pm, Monday through Friday, subject to availability.)

*For our Enterprise clients, we also make ourselves available over the weekend in the event of an emergency.

Will you send us invoices? We have a payment approval process.

If you are an Enterprise client, we are happy to send an invoice with your organization’s preferred payment terms and methods.

If you are a Professional or Premium client, we do not send invoices, as payments are made automatically via subscription billing in Stripe, our payment processor. However, they will email you a receipt and a post-payment invoice for your records.

What are “development hours”?

Development hours are the work that is performed outside of your support plan.

This work includes building new features, new pages, or any change on your website beyond a simple content edit on an existing page.

Any such requests will be estimated and billed separately from your support plan.*

*Enterprise clients may also bundle a fixed amount of development hours with even larger discounts to simplify billing.

Do you offer discounts on development hours?

Premium clients receive a 5% discount on all development hours.

Enterprise clients receive a 10% discount on all development hours.

How quickly do you respond to requests?

Typically, within a few hours.

Sometimes, in minutes.

Never more than 1 business day.

In short — we’re very responsive. We don’t use support tickets, help desks, or chatbots. When you need support, you can email a real human and get a timely response.

What is “custom code support”?

Most WordPress websites use pre-built plugins and themes, but now and then, a business will have a unique challenge that is best solved by creating a custom solution.

Custom solutions are wonderful (we build them all the time!), but they do involve extra maintenance and upkeep to ensure they remain compatible with future versions of WordPress as well as any existing plugins and themes you’re using.

Do you offer free trials?

Nope. But you’re welcome to sign up for monthly billing and cancel any time in that first month before the next billing date if you are not 100% satisfied.

Do you offer refunds?

We do not. You may cancel your plan at any time to prevent from being billed in the future. However, previously made payments are non-refundable.
